  • Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Units Scale

4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, chopped
2/3 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
11/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease the bottom of a 13×9-inch baking pan.
In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the chopped unsweetened chocolate and butter.
Melt the mixture on 40% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring until smooth.
Beat in 2 cups sugar into the chocolate mixture.
Add 4 eggs to the mixture, beating them in one at a time.
Stir in 1-1/4 cups flour and 1 tsp. baking powder until well combined.
Spread the brownie mixture into the prepared baking pan.
In a small bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Set aside.
In a large mixer bowl, cream the 1/2 cup softened butter with 6 tablespoons granulated sugar, 6 tablespoons packed brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until creamy.
Beat in the large egg into the creamed butter mixture.
Gradually beat in the dry flour mixture until it’s well incorporated.
Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/4 cup chopped walnuts into the cookie dough.
Drop rounded tablespoons of the cookie dough onto the brownie batter in the pan, pressing down slightly.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the brownies are set and the edges look dry.
Allow the brownies to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting and serving.

Use high-quality chocolate for a richer taste.
Walnuts can be omitted or replaced with other nuts of your choice.
Make sure to let the brownies cool to avoid the cookie dough from melting when cutting.
