Mini Baguette Recipe

A homemade mini baguette recipe that’s easy to make and great for snacking or as a side dish.

Units Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon corn meal for dusting


In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar.
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until the mixture starts to foam.
Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture and combine with a spoon. Knead for 5 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Punch down dough and cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 15 minutes.
Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll into smooth balls.
Roll out each ball on a floured surface to form mini baguettes about 5 inches (13 cm) long.
Place baguettes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkled with the cornmeal.
Cut diagonal slits across the top of each baguette and brush lightly with water.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
Let cool before serving.


For a more crispy crust, brush the baguettes with egg wash.
For added flavor, brush the baguettes lightly with olive oil before baking.
