Vietnamese Peanut Sate Sauce Recipe

A savory and peanutty sate sauce that is a perfect accompaniment to any dish.

1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano


In a medium bowl, mix together peanut butter, soy sauce, and honey until well combined.
Add sesame oil, fish sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and oregano to the mixture and stir until combined.
Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 8-10 minutes until mixture thickens.
Let cool to room temperature before serving.


for a nut-free version, substitute sunflower seed butter for the peanut butter.
for a gluten free version, substitute tamari for the soy sauce.
