Vietnamese Butter Beef Recipe

Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pound beef sirloin steak, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup vegetable broth
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey or light brown sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
1 tablespoon hot chili sauce
Salt to taste

Instructions

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef slices and cook until browned on both sides, about 3 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently.
Add the broth, cover the skillet, and reduce the heat to low. Simmer until the beef is tender, about 10 minutes.
Add the butter, fish sauce, soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, lime juice, cilantro, and chili sauce. Stir to combine and cook for 2 minutes.
Taste and season with salt, if desired. Serve with steamed rice and/or fresh vegetables.

Notes

To make this recipe vegan, use vegan butter and vegetable broth.
To make this dish spicier, add more chili sauce according to your taste preference.
