Quick and Easy Filipino Fish Balls

Delicious and easy-to-follow recipe for fried Filipino fish balls.

Ingredients

500 g fresh fish fillet, cut into small cubes
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons finely chopped spring onion
2 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1 cup cooking oil for deep-frying

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine fish cubes, flour, cornstarch, egg, spring onion, garlic, onion, sugar, salt and pepper.
Mix until everything is well blended.
Shape the mixture into balls. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a medium-size saucepan for deep-frying.
Fry the fish balls in batches, until golden brown and cooked through.
Drain on paper towels. Serve with your favorite sauce.

Notes

You can also shallow-fry the fish balls but the cooking time may take a little bit longer.
Fish balls can be grilled or steamed as well.
