Picadinho de Milho (Brazilian Chopped Beef w/Corn)

A traditional Brazilian dish featuring tender filet mignon with sweet corn, perfectly seasoned to bring a taste of carnival to your table.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Units Scale

1 lb filet mignon, chopped by hand into small squares
1 onion, finely chopped
12 cloves of garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 15 oz can of sweet corn
12 tablespoons of sunflower oil
1 tablespoon of tomato paste (optional)

1. Heat the sunflower oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent and soft.
3. Incorporate the minced garlic into the skillet and continue to sauté until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
4. Add the hand-chopped filet mignon to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and brown the beef on all sides.
5. (Optional) Dilute the tomato paste in a small amount of water and add it to the skillet, stirring to combine with the beef.
6. Let the mixture cook for a few minutes if using tomato paste, to develop a rich sauce.
7. Stir in the sweet corn and let the dish cook for an additional few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
8. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if necessary.
9. Serve hot as a main course, perhaps accompanied by steamed rice or traditional Brazilian sides.
