My husband and I had an awesome time exploring Chicago’s Art Institute in a whole new way recently. It’s been awhile since we’ve visited the museum and when I learned about a new tour offered by Museum Hack, I knew it was time to get a new perspective of the wonderful artwork available. So what exactly is Museum Hack? It’s only the BEST way to enjoy time at a museum!
We began offering these unique experiences at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Today, we host hundreds of tours every year at museums in New York City, Washington D.C., and San Francisco. Our tour categories include VIP, Company Team Building, Bachelorettes, Marriage Proposals, Little Hackers and more.
On our visit to the museum, we had a fun, lively and extremely knowledgeable tour guide, Andrew. He kept the energy up with our small group of 8 as we weaved our way through the various sections of the museum. The tour was roughly 2 hours long, but within that two hours, I learned so much, had a lot of laughs and left with a greater appreciation for some of the artwork we focused on.
This piece was one of my favorites because it drew me in visually. After learning about the history and intent of this piece, I loved it even more. Our tour guide even gave us some fun facts about the artwork during our tour… and this piece specifically happened to save comedian, Bill Murray’s life!
This was another piece we focused on and something that would have completed passed over had I not taken this tour. I learned about how monkeys were the epitome of success and wealth/// and this piece was highly valued. Crazy lol!
This is the iconic Jackson Pollack piece entitled Greyed Rainbow. Interestingly enough, there is no gray paint used, however every color of the rainbow is represented! Who knew?! Museum Hack sure schooled me…
We went through the various sections of the museum, engaging in some fun activities throughout the tour. One activity was to locate our beloved piece of artwork we loved. A piece of artwork we loved so much we would marry it and have a wonderful wedding. My piece? This is my true piece of art love for the color, intricate work and purpose it brings.
From learning the cool. weird and wacky factoids about chosen pieces our tour guide focused on, to the fun, interactive games we played as we viewed artwork, this was the most fun I had at a museum. I really look forward to another visit and checking out more of their out of the box museum tours at more area museums. Definitely check Museum Hack out if you’re in New York City, San Francisco, Washington DC and of course, here in Chicago!
