PERFECT STEAK AND SHRIMP finish product in a plate

Surf And Turf: Perfect Steak and Shrimp for 2

  • Total Time: 25 minutes

  • A quarter cup of fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 6oz of shrimp (peeled and deveined, but leave the tails)
  • Two steaks of 6oz each (flat-iron, sirloin, or filet mignon)
  • Half a pound of small red potatoes (cut them in half if they are large)
  • Three tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • Three sprigs of thyme
  • One tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper

  1. Take out a medium pot and keep your potatoes in it with cold water, as it should cover an inch.
  2. Season the potatoes and water with salt. Then, bring the water to a boil, and reduce the heat to let it simmer. Let the potatoes cook for eight minutes or until they are tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes, pat dry them, and keep them in the pot again.
  4. Next, you must take a medium skillet and heat the oil on medium-high heat.
  5. Then, pat the steaks dry using a paper towel and season them with salt and pepper, depending on your taste.
  6. As soon as the oil starts to smoke, add the steaks to the skillet. Let them cook until they are brown on all sides. This will take around ten minutes.
  7. Reduce the heat; add the thyme to the steaks and a tablespoon of butter to the pan.
  8. When the butter begins frothing, you must take it from the pan and spoon it on the steaks for a minute.
  9. Then, transfer the steaks onto a plate and cover them with foil.
  10. Start cooking the shrimp by adding a tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Let it froth, and then add the shrimp and let it cook until it starts turning brown from the edges, which will take at least two minutes. After they are cooked, season them with parsley, salt, and pepper, and then put them on a plate.
  11. Keep the skillet on medium-high heat and add the cooked potatoes. Keep cooking and stirring till the potatoes have heated and begun breaking down, which will take a minute.
  12. Add a tablespoon of butter and parsley to the potatoes. Season them with some salt and pepper, and finally, serve them with shrimp and steak.
