Amazing Adobong Tofu

A flavorful and vegan-friendly dish featuring marinated, boiled tofu with a garlicky-tangy sauce.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable broth
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon oil

Place the cubed tofu on a large plate and press it lightly between paper towels to absorb excess liquid.
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and sauté for 3 minutes.
Add soy sauce, vinegar, vegetable broth, brown sugar, black pepper, and bay leaf and stir to combine.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes.
Add the tofu cubes and simmer for another 5 minutes.
Uncover and cook off any remaining liquid.
Serve hot over rice.

This dish is vegan-friendly if vegan-friendly soy sauce is used.
You can also add extra vegetables such as bell peppers or mushrooms.
